Barefoot Shark Encounters is part of the Barefoot Collection Fiji, operating in the Yasawa Islands for over a decade. As an SSI-accredited dive centre, we offer shark experiences for certified divers, introductory divers and snorkellers, with a strong focus on safety, education and marine conservation.

Barefoot Shark Encounters offers some of the most unique Fiji shark dive and snorkelling with sharks experiences, operating from Kuata Island in the Yasawa Islands and via day cruises departing Port Denarau near Nadi.

Our shark encounters allow guests to experience the thrill of diving and snorkelling with sharks in Fiji’s crystal-clear waters, surrounded by vibrant coral reefs and dramatic island landscapes.

Designed by marine biologist Dr Thomas Vignaud PhD, the Awakening Shark Dive is a world-class experience developed over three years of research and planning. Divers encounter bull sharks and other species in their natural environment, while our team carefully monitors behaviour to ensure safety and ecological best practice.

For those who prefer to remain on the surface, our snorkelling experience offers the chance to swim alongside blacktip and whitetip reef sharks at nearby Moia Reef. These predators play a vital role in maintaining healthy coral reef ecosystems and are fascinating to observe in the wild.

Fiji Shark Dive Authorities
Barefoot Shark Encounters regularly hosts international marine biologists, scientists and shark experts for ongoing shark and marine ecosystem research.
When international artist & photographer USA based Benjamin Von Wong wanted to feature sharks in his latest project, he travelled to Fiji. Benjamin needed a team of Fiji Shark Dive authorities to turn his vision into stunning art, that team was Barefoot Shark Encounters.
Barefoot Shark Encounters operates Shark Snorkelling and Shark Diving Day Cruises departing daily from Port Denarau, Nadi.

The 'Awakening Shark Dive' Day Cruise is for certified divers only. On this exhilarating dive you meet our resident population of Bull Sharks with guest appearances from other shark species.

Introductory Dive with Reef Sharks Day Cruise is for introductory divers (non-certified divers), a wow first time dive experience.

Snorkelling with Reef Sharks Day Cruise where you'll meet our resident population of White & Black Tip Reef Sharks.
Our dive masters & instructors will provide full training including dive theory plus practical pool diving training.
Once competency levels are achieved we'll take you on a boat ride to a nearby Moia Reef, home to White Tip & Black Tip Reef Sharks.
You'll be accompanied by a dive master or instructor who'll be with you throughout your Fiji Shark Dive, to ensure you enjoy this wow shark encounter.
